Frequently Asked
Questions
Find clear answers to common questions about NDIS Plan Management and how Health Assure can support you.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a national program that funds reasonable and necessary supports to help people with disabilities or children with developmental delays achieve their goals. Each participant has an NDIS Plan outlining their goals, required supports, and allocated funding. The Plan is reviewed and adjusted periodically.
The NDIS is available to Australian citizens or permanent residents aged 7-65 with a permanent and significant disability. Children aged 0-6 with developmental delays or diagnosed disabilities can access support through Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI). Use the NDIS eligibility tool to check your eligibility and start your application: https://www.ndis.gov.au/applying-access-ndis/am-i-eligible
'Reasonable and necessary' supports are those that the NDIS funds to help you achieve your goals. These supports must be related to your disability, offer value for money, be effective, and benefit you based on evidence. They do not cover everyday living costs unrelated to your disability needs.
You have several options for managing your NDIS Plan: self-manage, engage a Plan Management provider, have it managed through the NDIA, or use a combination of these methods. Contact the NDIS if you wish to change your Plan Management. More details: https://www.ndis.gov.au/participants/plan-implementation-directory
If you are unhappy with the Plan approved by the NDIS, you can ask for a review. A senior NDIA staff member will review the Plan based on the information you’ve provided. Hopefully this will resolve any issues. However, if you are unhappy with the outcome of the NDIA review, you can apply for an external review by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
